EZHostCheck Setup |
A. The Enable Audio Checkbox willl enable you to select an audio alert for your hosts as a possible alert solution. B. When (A) is checked, you will need to supply the path to a sound file which you wish played when the alert is triggered. C. Browse button to browse to the location of your sound file D. When an alert is triggered, how often do you wish to be reminded that the system is still offline. For example, if a service has been offline for two hours, and EZHostCheck is polling for status every 60 seconds, then you probably do not want to be alerted 120 times. Perhaps you want to be reminded of an outstanding alert every 10 min, but the value is up to you and your envrionment E. Once EZHostCheck has completed an entire check of all the hosts in the list, it will rest for a number of seconds before starting over again rereading the list and testing all the hosts again F. This is how much time between each host check EZHostCheck will wait for. In other words, this is how many seconds EZHostCheck will pause between checking HostA and HostB. If you are unsure about this setting, please leave the deault 0.250 seconds in place G. The Enable Logging Checkbox will enable you to record failed monitor polled events to a logfile. H. Similar to (D), when a host is down for a long period of time, you may not want to have each and every failed attempt logged to the logfile, because you already know about it, but rather you want to only log a failed entry for that particular host every X number of minutes. I. The Enable Email Checkbox will enable you to be alerted to a host which failed a monitor poll. J. Here is where you supply the IP address or hostname of your SMTP server to which you have relay access to, in order to send out email alert notifications. I will repeat this again... You will need to have SMTP relay access to this server to be able to send emails from it K. This is the email address which will be used to send the alerts from. The form you will need to use is EZHostCheck@yourdomain.com. You would replace yourdomain.com with your actual domain name of your email system L. This is the email address which will recieve the alerts when one of your hosts fail. M. Similar to (H) when a host is down for a long period of time, you may not want to have each and every failed attempt to have an email alert, because you already know about it, but rather you want to have an email alert for that particular host every X number of minutes. |
